  15. I'm trying to signup, but it keeps going back to the login screen when I click the 'I Agree' button?
  16. Some web-browsers (commonly Internet Explorer on Win 98, or Lynx) seem to have problems submitting forms to fastmail.fm. The result is that each time you submit a form (eg. click a button on a FastMail.FM web-page), it takes you back to the login or mailbox screen. We're not sure why this problem occurs, but we haven't got an easy fix for it. The only thing to do is to upgrade your version if Internet Explorer. This is worth doing anyway to fix many security problems.

    You can upgrade at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

  17. I tried to signup, but entered the wrong existing email address, what can I do?

  19. I tried to signup, but haven't received the activation email. What do I do?
  20. Go back to the signup screen, re-enter the same username, password, full name and existing email address. Click the 'I Agree' button and you'll be sent another confirmation email.

Confirmation emails are sent immediately. FastMail.FM usually has a mail queue of at most a few seconds, so any slowness is usually due to the destination provider.

  21. How does upgrading help me reduce spam?
  22. All FastMail.FM accounts receive Basic spam filtering, in which senders known for spamming are blocked automatically. However, FastMail.FM also offers more advanced spam filtering for Full level and higher accounts. This advanced spam filtering uses SpamAssassin, a highly accurate, Open Source email spam filter. With the SpamAssassin-based filter, 95% of the spam you received will be detected and blocked. However, because of the customisation options, you will also have the confidence that you are in control of your email.

You will have control over whether spam is discarded before ever being delivered to your mailbox or merely placed in a special Junk Mail folder. You can set the sensitivity of your filter separately for three possible levels of likely spam. Or you can choose to only accept messages from your "white list:" addresses already in your Address Book.

In addition to advanced spam filtering, upgrading to a Full account gives you an increased amount of storage space for both your messages and files, access to your FastMail.FM account via POP, up to three different aliases to keep your work, personal, and hobby email separate. All for only $19.95 / year.

For more information on the features available with a Full or Enhanced account, see our complete service level comparison. To upgrade your account, simply select the Upgrade/Downgrade link from the Options screen.
